About

In the early 90's a bar near the University of Pennsylvania began playing a pub trivia game at the New Deck Tavern in Philadelphia. A woman walked in and said "oh is it bingo night?" to which this host (Pat Hine) said "No, it's more like Quiz-O night" and thus the name Quizo or Quizzo was born. The problem was, Quizzo was also a 1960's board game so neither Pat nor anyone else can own a copywrite on the name Quizzo. Over the years various "Quizzo" games popped up around the area including the earliest in our companies history 1999 at Maynard's in Margate, New Jersey (hosted by DJ Fran & an Irishman named Gavin who brought his version of the game from Ireland). In 2005 Quizzo began expanding as a national brand with major companies like Quizzo Detroit forming in different areas outside of the Philadelphia / NJ area. The Live Network has since brought Quizzo to more than 25 states and Canada. Quizzo has been played in every major chain from Applebee's to TGI Fridays and Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili's, Dave and Busters and many many many more. So there's the history, how here is a little bit about the game.

Quizzo is a 7 round 70 question trivia contest played by players who form trivia teams. The contest lasts roughly 2 hours and is usually played once a week. The game rounds are General Knowledge, Celebrity Picture Identification, Sports, Geography/ History, Entertainment and a Bonus round with a top ten question to end the game. Teams can guess (they don't loose points) and they can choose to double the point value in a single round by using the "Joker". Spelling does not count and the only rules are no cheating (using phones etc) and never call out the answer.

Games are hosted by a professional MC that The Live Network provides materials to. There is no electronic equipment needed the facility to play the game, although the host uses space to set up their system which consists of a speaker microphone and mixer.

The Live Network provides our host venues point of sale materials to help promote the game including posters, post cards and table tents and also creates a custom page in our directory where the venue can feature other promotions and teams can track their Quizzo game scores

The Live Network was formed in 2000 to promote live trivia nation wide. In addition to producing a weekly trivia contest called "Quizzo" (often called Quiz Show or Quiz-O) and others such as Bar Bingo, Tune Trivia and dozens of themed games, The Live Network lists all live trivia games produced in the USA (and Canada, GB and Australia).

There are dozens of trivia companies ranging from large multi state groups to small independent DJ's and venues running in house games.

All listings on TheLiveNetwork.com are free for registered users. The Live Network researches games by adding listings found on internet sites including but not limited to the company producing the game.

TLN does not own or operate any of these games and any individual or group wishing to have their listing taken down can do so by sending a request to info@thelivenetwork.com.

“I have been the GM of two Applebee's locations for several years. In that time TLN's QUIZZO live trivia game has taken one of our consistently slowest nights and brought it on par with our busiest nights. They have done this at both locations I have managed for more than five years."

– Brynn Flenard - Applebee's Mays Landing, NJ
